There is plenty to do and see for the whole family at the Bedfordshire County Show. Attractions include our family fun dog show, traditional and wholesome country food in our farmers market, craft tent, rural crafts plus much more. Whether your looking for a gift with a difference, looking to try exciting new food or entering your four legged friend in to the wagiest tail competition we guarantee a great day out.

 Dog Show

The Dog Show is sponsored by Country Clips

The main aim of the Dog Shows each day is for fun for you and your dogs. It gets your dogs used to being handled by strangers and meeting other dogs on the day. It is a fun activity and also raises money for good causes.

There are 15 different classes that you may enter your dog in. Entries are normally taken on the day at 12 noon, but if you wish to enter before hand and avoid the queues, please contact Ben Reynolds-frost for your entry form. Fill in one entry form for each dog, enclose a cheque made payable to to The Bedfordshire County Show, a SAE so we can post your entry numbers and post to the Dog Show Secretary - Ben Reynolds-Frost, Lodge Farm, Wallington, Baldock. SG7 6QX or you can email Ben on benreynoldsfrost@btinternet.com.

There will be rosettes down to 5 places in every class, plus NEW for 2010 extra special judges choice rosettes given specially by the judge on the day.

Crafts

Visit our giant craft marquee of over 100ft, inside you'll find something of interest for every one from scarves, bags, knitwear, jewellery, candles, glass figurines, books, & photos to delicious treats ranging from fudge, cream teas, cheeses, dried fruits and nuts, pork pies and curries.

There will also be demonstrations going on through the day which will include making jewellery and glass beads. You may also like to know your future and visit the palm reader.

Traditional Crafts

Traditional crafts once flourished in this country, this feature helps demonstrate these near-forgotten crafts. Over the course of the show the craftsmen will be giving demonstrations, answering questions and giving advice.

John Adams - Traditional Spoon Carving.

Yeoman Basketmaker - Traditional English basket making and a hands on workshop for visitors.

J. Browning - Spar making and talks on coppicing.

Phil & Lynda Young - Pole Lathe & Green Woodworking.

From baguettes to burgers, icecream to smoothies Knights Mobile Catering Ltd are providing first class catering through out the show. They are pleased to announce the arrival of their newest addition a flame grilled Chicken Tikka unit. Knight's Catering attend shows and events all over the country providing first class catering, they are a family run buisness with all of their members of staff fully trained, their attention to detail and professional service is guaranteed.

Laura Jones - Farm Animals

Laura Jones and her family run a smallholding based on the Hert/Cambs border. They specialise in rare breed and pure breed poultry. There aim is to keep the traditional breeds pure WITHOUT interbreeding. There view is that everybody should own their own chickens, whether it is the commercialised hybrid or a pretty Orpington hen, why pay silly prices for caged hens out of your local supermarket when you can have your own free range eggs freshly delivered every day. 

Laura will be bringing along differnt species of poultry as well as some of her other animals including her pet kune kune and micro pigs Toetoe and Harry who only reach a total height of 20" when fully grown. Frank, Pat and Stiches her very friendly goats and her newest addtion her beautiful mare and foal.

Visitors are welcome to touch the animals but must use the hand sanitizers available after touching the animals.

Simon's Rodents

Simon's rodents is a family run buisness established in 1992. Simon will be at the show with many differnt breeds of poultry for sale and will be on hand to give advice to all poultry keepers.
